 The
SBNRC builds on various existing relationships
between the University and a number of public and
private organizations. These efforts are aimed at
providing participating nonprofit organizations with
a mechanism for establishing collaborative
strategies and projects.
Issue-Driven Network:
As the hub for funding resource information, the
SBNRC serves as a liaison for nonprofit
organizations interested in creating collaborative
efforts centered on a single issue (e.g., health
care, housing). This facilitates the most efficient
use of limited funding resources. A collaborative
network of nonprofit/funding sources yields a
synergism that benefits both. Issues networks are
then linked together to plan multi-issue projects.
Funders' Forum:
The Southwest Border Nonprofit Resource Center, in
collaboration with participating funders, organizes
an annual meeting of funding entities and nonprofit
organizations. This venue allows the two groups to:
- Learn about their yearly priorities for the
region,
- Showcase local accomplishments,
- Foster greater understanding of need,
- Build closer relationships, and
- Introduce new philanthropic entities to
Valley and South Texas
nonprofits.
