 Create a
permanent facility to train residents of rural communities
and the USDA Rural Development field staff, both locally and
from surrounding states in the capacity building and
leadership skills needed to access development programs
designed to assist rural communities.
Provide continuing technical assistance and training on
community development skills. Create a facility, which can
sponsor training conferences for small towns and community
leaders. Informational conferences on emerging businesses
and the establishment of sustainable business development
are also likely possibilities.
Introduce small communities to technology and information
links. Facilities for computer conferencing and data sources
for strategic planning and other community needs, can be
made accessible to community leaders.
Assist small public educational institutions to update
their curriculum to meet current needs of the communities
they serve. Local workforce skills and educational
opportunities for rural residents will improve. The presence
of development and leadership skills in rural communities
will increase overall. |
