BAJA CALIFORNIA NORTE: Part of Mexico's northern border, Baja California Norte is flanked by the Pacific Ocean to the west, the US state of California to the north, Sonora and the Sea of Cortez to the east, and Baja California Sur to the south. The capital is Mexicali; other important cities are Tijuana and the tourist community of Ensenada.
