Objective: To increase the level of access to affordable housing and rehab programs for families traditionally isolated from available resources.

There are currently a wide range of housing programs available to low income families in the Rio Grande Valley. However, many families are either unaware of how to access those resources or may not immediately qualify due to poor or lack of credit history. This component helps address some of these issues.

Services include:

  • Financial assessments to determine families' eligibility for a variety of housing programs.
  • Housing counseling for families who do not qualify due to excessive debt or credit problems.
  • Eligible families are matched with housing organizations that provide mortgage financing, down payment assistance and home rehabilitation funds.
As part of the effort to fill the gap between available resources and family needs, a Housing Resource Guide has been compiled with a list of local housing programs. The goal of this guide is to facilitate referrals among housing providers.

Please note that the Housing Resource Guide only includes information on the housing programs that gave us permission to publish and post information on-line.
