County Facts

Location: South Texas Rio Grande Valley. Bounded by: Hidalgo County to the west, Willacy County to the north, the Laguna Madre, Padre Island and the Gulf of Mexico to the east, and the Rio Grande River to the south. Cameron County comprises the entire Brownsville-Harlingen-San Benito Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA). The county seat is Brownsville, other principal communities are Port Isabel and the tourist-oriented South Padre Island.
